Total IP or hybrid solutions are optimal when a video surveillance solution includes difficult-to-wire buildings, multiple buildings on one site, multiple sites and/or locations that cannot be cabled or powered. In addition, megapixel IP cameras are particularly useful when recorded video needs to be zoomed in on in order to see more detailed imagery. The higher pixel density of megapixel cameras allow a higher degree of zoom to be applied before the image becomes 'pixilated'.

The display, recording, playback and remote access software is comparable in function, operation, appearance and feature set within each Series of DVRs, NVRs and video servers. It is this software that provides the features, functions, usability and stability of both the RP and V Series of products and which sets them apart from other IP products.
